Tori Spelling Defends That Controversial Child Massage Pic As Just A Joke!

Tori Spelling is holding up the white flag — or spa towel, we guess — and begging y’all to wait with the cancellation until you hear this!

In case you didn’t see it, earlier this month the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum shared a pic to Instagram that became a lightning rod for controversy! The picture in question featured Tori laying nude on stomach with just a thin blanket covering her hips, while her 7-year-old son Beau massaged her legs. In the caption, she wrote:

“Beau said he wanted to do chores in exchange for an allowance…solid plan”

A lot of fans were instantly grossed out by the post, calling it “creepy” and “inappropriate” — but would they still feel that way if it was all just a joke?! In the newest episode of her misSPELLING podcast Tuesday, Tori said the whole thing was supposed to be “very cute”:

“So on my Stories recently, I posted what I thought was a very cute photo of my 7-year-old son Beau — pretending being the key word here — pretending to give me a massage… And then I said he wanted to make money for an allowance, and I thought this was a good way to start. Beats chores, something like that. I don’t know.”

OH, so the whole thing was just posing? To be silly? LOLz! Thank goodness! It was pretty weird that she’d get the kid to give her a full-on professional naked table massage!

Tori defended herself further, saying she never “forced” the 7-year-old to play the joke with her, either — Beau asked the massage therapist if he could give it a try! She thought it was cute! But that’s not how folks took it:

“All of a sudden, it exploded on the press scene … So [the massage therapist] took that one picture of Beau pretending to give me a massage. And I just think it’s wild. It’s wild the stuff that you can put out there that they change the narrative on so hardcore.”

The True Tori star honestly assumed everyone would realize “it’s not real” from the setting:

“Clearly, we are not at home. I’m not making him do chores. Clearly, I’m at a massage parlor.”

To be fair, no one knows what the inside of Tori’s house looks like! LOLz! Well, actually her friend did — and he saw the post way early on, before the negative comments or the press. And even he warned her it wasn’t going to be good:

“I mean, as soon as I put it up, one of my best guy friends, he DM’d me and he was like, ‘That’s not a good look’. And I’m like, ‘I know’ — like joking. I’m like, ‘I know. He was getting all the wrong spots. Like, you should have started on the feet’. But he said, he’s like, ‘Oh my god. People are gonna freak out’.”

Ha! She really didn’t see it coming!

She added that even if they weren’t joking, if it “were true” that she’d made Beau give her a massage, she doesn’t see the problem in it! One of her “mom friends” even agreed, telling her she thought it was normal for kids to walk on their parents’ backs or rub their feet.

Tori also complained she doesn’t understand why “comedians” can get away with posting “anything and people are like, ‘They are kidding. That’s funny’”:

“But if an actor posts something, they’re like, ‘Oh my god. That must be true. She’s a horrible mom’. And then I had another friend that was like, ‘Well, good news is you’re relevant. You’re in the press’.”

Well, that’s the thing… When you’re a comedian, people expect you to say ridiculous things for a laugh. When you’re a beloved but eccentric TV star known for TMI confessions… folks are going to take your posts at face value.

Wrapping up her thoughts, Tori said she doesn’t want to think about the headlines because she has “such mom guilt anyway”:

“I don’t need people shaming me, thinking I’m forcing my kids to massage me.”
