While one fan-favorite song is still notably missing from Harry Styles’ official discography, his fourth studio album could be where it finally debuts. For 15 years, the British singer has been a prominent figure in the pop music scene. He initially rose to fame with One Direction in 2010, going on to become part of one of the most popular boy bands of all time.
After the group split in 2016, Styles went on to make an even bigger name for himself in his solo career with three studio albums and three Grammy Awards. Known for his showmanship and artistry, Styles’ tours are a coveted ticket. Seeing him perform hits like “As It Was,” “Sign of the Times,” and “Watermelon Sugar” live is a life-changing experience for fans, and sometimes the setlist includes some special surprises too.
There is one unreleased song that Styles first performed on tour in 2018, letting fans in attendance get a first listen. It’s since made appearances on various setlists over the years. An official studio version has yet to be released, despite the song becoming a favorite among fans, but Harry Styles’ new album may offer some hope.
Harry Styles Has Yet To Officially Release “Medicine”
It’s Only Ever Been Played Live
Styles first performed his unreleased song “Medicine” during his 2018 worldwide tour, Harry Styles: Live on Tour. Fans at the concert in Basel, Switzerland got to hear its debut, and the song became a common addition throughout the rest of the tour dates.
While a performance of “Medicine” is never guaranteed at any show, Styles has played it a considerable number of times over the years, most notably at his 2021 Halloween event and while he was headlining Coachella in 2022. There’s surprisingly no official studio version of the beloved song, but Styles has a good reason for it.
“Medicine” was originally written to be part of Styles’ self-titled debut album, but it was eventually scrapped from the tracklist because it was deemed too similar to the other songs. Since then, he’s released two more albums with Fine Line and Harry’s House, yet “Medicine” was still absent.
Styles ultimately decided that he’d moved on from the artistic sound of “Medicine” and it would stay a song that is exclusively performed live. However, the artist did say that he’s open to releasing it at a later date, and his next album may be the perfect place for it.
If HS4 Goes Rock, “Medicine” Would Fit In Perfectly
Fans Are Speculating His Next Album Will Go Back To Rock
Styles’ fourth studio album is in the works, with the artist starting to develop ideas as soon as Harry’s House dropped in 2022. That was a big year for Styles, as he starred in two major films after a huge Marvel cameo. In 2023, he finished Harry Styles: Love On Tour and his various Harry’s House residencies.

Harry Styles debuted as Eros, a.k.a. Starfox, in Phase 4’s Eternals, and has been teased to be returning, though it’s unclear when this might happen.
With 2024 slowing down for him, it would make sense if he had made some progress on the recording of HS4 in the past year. From where his past albums have been sonically, Styles may try a new approach with HS4. Styles’ musical identity during his solo career has always taken some inspiration from the rock genre, but his last two albums, Fine Line and Harry’s House, both relied more heavily on pop.
It’s been almost a decade since the classic rock sound of Harry Styles, and HS4 could be the project where he returns to his roots. If his next studio album embraces the rock sound that has influenced his career up until this point, then Harry Styles may finally have the perfect reason to officially release “Medicine” in its full glory.
