Animator Alice Darrow who has brought 2D art to life has dipped her toes into the comic book world with her debut miniseries called Tramps of the Apocalypse. Published by Dark Horse Comics, the three-issue comic book series will also feature colorist Hugo Blanc and letter Frank Cvetkovic, the latter of whom is notable for working on Cyberpunk 2077: Psycho Squad and Behemoth.
Tramps of the Apocalypse is a satirical debut and is set 70 years into the future. Things haven’t changed much in 2094; for one, it’s still a patriarchal society with men on top and ruling the world. Except men have formed factions called “Quest Ragnor, King of Males” following the Sildenafil wars that spanned from 2053 to 2063 which has turned much of Earth into a barren wasteland. These men have been roaming around what remains of the cities and towns in the world, capturing and enslaving any women they encounter. But they have yet to capture the super bimbos, Baby, Belladonna, and Babette, all three of whom have unparalleled bloodlust and an unquenchable thirst for violence and are simply too sexy to be captured.

Darrow, a Franco-American writer and illustrator who was the visual development artist of Futurama and the character designer of Disenchantment, has previously provided the variant cover for several series such as Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to Be Kin #1 and If You Find This, I’m Already Dead #3. She expressed her gratitude at the opportunity to be published. “I have been working on this project for years, and I am so incredibly grateful and lucky that Dark Horse decided to give this goofy newbie a chance,” she said. “I am honored to be carrying on my father’s comic book legacy of ‘fighting fascists in the desert’—now more than ever.”
Her father, Geof Darrow, is the creator behind Shaolin Cowboy and also the concept artist and comic book illustrator for The Matrix, had nothing but praise for his daughter. “Smart! Funny! Fearless! Outrageous! AND this artist/writer, unlike so many of my peers, is not afraid of drawing cars and bicycles! And by a strange coincidence, we have the same last name! WOW!”
The first volume of Tramps of the Apocalypse launches on June 25, 2025 and can now be preordered at your local comic shop for $4.99.
