Zendaya is turning heads after her 2025 Met Gala appearance sparked buzz for an unexpected reason. The actress and style icon wore a white zoot suit that looked nearly identical to one worn by Shōgun star Anna Sawai at the same event. With both stars embracing the “Tailored for You” dress code, comparisons quickly lit up social media.

Zendaya and Anna Sawai appeared at the 2025 Met Gala in nearly identical white zoot suits, honoring the event’s theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and the dress code “Tailored for You.”
The Dune actress wore a custom Louis Vuitton look by Pharrell Williams, while Sawai donned a Dior ensemble. Both featured a matching white collared shirt, tie, and wide-brimmed hat.
Zendaya’s three-piece Louis Vuitton suit was form-fitting and included a tie, a sparkling brooch below her back collar, and a wide-brimmed hat. She added red nails and a visible engagement ring. Sawai’s Dior look was similarly styled, with the primary distinction being her wide-legged pants compared to Zendaya’s flared ones.
Zendaya, 28, made her Met Gala debut in 2015 and has attended six times before, each appearance solo. Her past looks include a Fausto Puglisi gown for “China: Through The Looking Glass” and a light-up Cinderella dress for 2019’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” Sawai, 32, marked her first Met Gala appearance at this 2025 event.
The 2025 Met Gala was co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair. The event supports The Costume Institute and coincides with its spring exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said the exhibit draws from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion, exploring “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.” The show examines Black style and dandyism from the 18th century to today, particularly through menswear and tailoring.
This year’s host committee included Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher, and Angel Reese.
