Kristin Davis is opening up about a “mortifying” moment of her Sex and the City past.
During Monday’s episode of her Are You a Charlotte? podcast, the 60-year-old actress told screenwriter Jenny Bicks about a Season 5 episode of Sex and the City in which showrunner Michael Patrick King “forced” her to flash her breast in a crowded restaurant for a scene — when she really didn’t want to. She explained:
“I didn’t want to do it! Michael Patrick [King] forced me to do it. He kept telling me, ‘It’ll be fine. It’ll be great.’ And it is. But we were in a restaurant. You know what I mean? There were people everywhere.”
Yikes!

In retrospect, the Deck the Halls star laughed about the scene, which features her on a date with a sailor, but called it “mortifying” to film.
At the time, she said she had “a lot of stress about it.” But don’t worry… She’s clearly made her grievances known with Michael as she assured her guest, who noted “this is not going to sound good when it comes out,” that “It’s OK. He knows.” In fact, Kristin just featured Michael on the podcast back in February, when the two posed together for a cuddled up pic. See (below):
Super fans will know it wasn’t the first time her character showed breasts (nipples included) on the show. In S3: Ep 16, as Charlotte fought to be seen as a sex symbol in her husband Trey MacDougal’s eyes, she undressed in front of him and touched herself. It was arguably one of Kristin’s most powerful performances. But this scene in Season 5? It was seasons later, it was in front of A LOT more people, and it was for a much, much less serious storyline. So it makes sense if she didn’t feel it was right. But we’re so glad she’s able to laugh about it now!
