This week’s episode of FBI: Most Wanted, “Trust,” ditched the usual spree-crime chaos for a classic whodunit—built on the pillars of greed and lust. It was a deliciously messy tale of intimate betrayal, double-dealing, and a double-cross. What more could a crime junkie want?
A much-maligned wife, Vanessa Van Dyke (Mary Kate Moore), is found murdered in her bathtub. The Fugitive Task Force investigates. At first glance, it looks like she was indulging in her kink—auto-erotic asphyxiation—with a stranger she picked up from a BDSM hook-up site. But, oh no, this was no tragic accident.

Her husband, Jay Bradford (Brian Letscher), spins a sob story for Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott), claiming Vanessa nearly drowned as a child, was saved by her father, and then developed a twisted compulsion to recreate near-death experiences in the tub. Daddy died, guilt festered, and voilà—drowning became her thing. Except… that was all a big fat lie.
Turns out, Jay Bradford had been getting cozy with his son’s nanny, Emilia Gutierrez (Paola Andino). “It’s always the nanny,” Remy quips. And just when you think this tale couldn’t get any juicier, we meet Kevin Mulvaney (Luke Wilcox)—Emilia’s boyfriend, who thought her fling with Jay was a one-time mistake.
Oh, Kev. Not only was he getting cuckolded, but he was also being set up to commit murder—and then be murdered himself. The ultimate betrayal package. >>
Emilia convinced Kevin that Vanessa found out about their affair and was about to fire her, kicking her out of the country. The solution? Kill Vanessa. Classic.
Later, Emilia lured Kevin to Bradford’s office, where Jay sweet-talked him into signing a confession. But Kev should’ve read the room better because as soon as he did, Emilia shot him dead. The scene was staged as a suicide. Vanessa was rich. Now, her husband and the nanny were, too.
Jay and Emilia had it all figured out—except Vanessa was no fool. She suspected her husband was cheating and hired a crooked PI, Michael Da Fino (Neal Matarazzo), to dig up dirt.
Remy tried to get Da Fino to turn over his footage to the FBI, but the guy was too busy double-dealing. He had hidden cameras in Bradford’s office that captured Kevin’s murder—and instead of handing the footage over, he tried to extort money from the couple.
Big mistake. Jay snapped and smashed Da Fino’s skull into the floor. Boom.

Jay wanted to ditch his son, but Emilia wasn’t having it. Special Agents Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) and Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) closed in. Jay fired shots, then grabbed his son and used him as a shield. The FBI held fire because of the kid.
Jay, a self-proclaimed sailing enthusiast, hijacked a boat and took hostages. The Fugitive Task Force closed in, setting up a tense standoff. Jay threatened that Emilia would kill hostages at his command. Remy threatened… well, everything.

In the end, it wasn’t Remy who broke Emilia—it was Bradford’s pathetic history. He abandoned his child from his first marriage, and as she looked at his son—crying, terrified—she saw him for what he was.
“I’m not that person anymore,” Bradford claimed.
“Yes. You are,” Emilia deadpanned.
And then? She surrendered.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Special Agent Hana Gibson (Keisha Castle-Hughes) took a break from her addict boyfriend, Ethan.
Sheryll Barnes confided in Hana about interviewing for a supervisory position at headquarters in DC. She also revealed to Nina that she’d cut ties with her cyber-security girlfriend, Jill Potts (Teri Wyble). Oh, and Ray? Out sick.
The episode wrapped with Sheryll’s big interview.
“What is the most important thing when leading a team?” the interviewer asked.
“Trust,” Sheryll answered.

He laughed, noting that her response mirrored Remy’s when he interviewed for his promotion.
“Glad to see the apple didn’t fall far from the tree,” he remarked.
“Trust” was fast paced. Twisty. Satisfying as hell. A must-watch for any crime junkie.
But let’s talk about Sheryll’s response during her interview—was she making a mistake by not telling Remy? Let me know in the comments.
