If you aren’t quite getting through the marathon that is today’s Connections puzzle, you may be here for some hints to help you see the end of it. There are plenty of ups and downs and potential pitfalls in this one, including a huge misdirect that definitely got me. The editor team definitely knew what they were doing with that one, and it took me by surprise when I saw that it wasn’t an answer. However, now I know, and I can help you avoid that one as well.
The daily Letter Boxed puzzle is a fun one that you should check out if you are looking for another game to try. I like the action of bouncing around the sides of the box from letter to letter as I attempt to solve the puzzle. I also like that there are no fail states, so you can keep at it until you finally get the right answer. It can feel frustrating at times, but I find the comforting rhythm overcomes the frustration in most situations.
Today’s Connections Category Hints
APRIL 11 #670
If you need some hints for today’s puzzle, particularly for the big trick, you can get some help from me here. Getting to the end will require a lot of attention to detail, not just of the meaning of the words but what they are associated with as well. Once I got past the big one, I was able to solve the puzzle, but it did take some careful guessing and was a close call overall. Here are four hints to help you get past it easier than I did:
- One category is about things that can make you a little healthier
- One category is about things that all imply a collective gathering of people
- One category is about things that all are associated with a different word with a skyward origin
- One category is about words that can come after a single word – that word is a famous tile in Monopoly

SOURCES OF VITAMINS | |||
---|---|---|---|
CITRUS |
LEAFY GREENS |
SUNSHINE |
SUPPLEMENTS |
SUNSHINE is the first of the words that could be part of the Mario trick, with four words in this puzzle all being the second half of a Mario video game title. I was very shocked to see that that was not the answer. However, once it was clear that wasn’t the right way to go about things, I looked around and saw CITRUS and SUPPLEMENTS. That sparked the idea that these might be connected, and SUNSHINE is a famous source of Vitamin D. It took the longest to put LEAFY GREENS here, but I was able to do it.

PLACES USED IN RETAIL SUFFIXES | |||
---|---|---|---|
CITY |
LAND |
TOWN |
WORLD |
I feel like I don’t often see these words actually used as part of retail names anymore. Luckily, they are all references to places where people gather or live. It makes it easier to group them together without having the reference to retail at all, which is how I got this one first. I see these more often to describe sectors in amusement parks than anything that does have a retail component, but that isn’t the full purpose. I do think some retail stores would benefit from using these once again.

AMERICAN FLAG |

UBER RATING |
This category cost me the most guesses because I wasn’t sure how these were all related for a long time. I had a few different ideas. At one point, KART was with three of these words as I thought they might be things that could be rolled or were associated with it. But then, when I got “one away,” I replaced UBER RATING with GALAXY and got another “one away,” at which point I realized the “star” connection and was able to save my puzzle just in time.

I had no idea how these words were related until I finished the last category and was able to finish the puzzle. However, they do now make sense, and I just had talked about go-karts in a different puzzle not too long ago. It was nice to finish it all off, and I appreciated the challenge and the trick of this puzzle coming not too long after a lot of big Nintendo news was released.
