Fatal fire under investigation in Macon, Georgia

The fire happened on Friday morning.

MACON, Ga. — A fire in a shed behind a home in south Macon has left at least one person dead, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. 

A 63-year-old man died in the fire. He was living in a shed with the permission of the home owner. The man has been identified as Joe Turner.

The fire happened on Friday morning at a shed behind a home in the 4000 block of Worsham Avenue, near Mead Road and Broadway. 

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
