Young Thug throws the liar card at a gang investigator with the Atlanta Police Department as tensions seem to heat up between hip-hop and law enforcement in the city this week.
Young Thug Calls Out Atlanta PD Investigator Linked to YSL Trial
Since Young Thug got his freedom back last October, he’s been laying low for the most part. Tweets about rats and calling out Gunna have shown he’s not too fond of his YSL signee, but Thugger has dodged any signs of trouble. However, that changed today when he decided to target Marissa Viverito, an investigator with the Atlanta Police Department, in a surprising tweet.
On Tuesday (April 1), Thug posted a photo of Viverito and tweeted: “Biggest liar in the DA office.” While it’s unclear why the rapper is taking aim at the investigator, it may be linked to a court appearance this week.
Marissa Viverito was reportedly on the stand in court Monday (March 31) for a hearing that was part of an overall preliminary hearing to determine if seven men charged in the shooting deaths of two 13-year-old boys in Atlanta last year will go to trial. She asked WSB-TV Atlanta that her face not be shown on camera because she is involved in undercover investigations. An ask like that may be the reason why photos of her are scarce around the internet and Thug chose what appears to be an old image of her for his tweet.
The accused men are allegedly part of Atlanta’s Goodfellas gang. In February, the Atlanta Police Department insisted Lil Baby’s “cowardly acts” of shooting a music video in rival gang territory caused the teens to be killed. Baby once repped 4PF as his record label and crew, but changed his label name to Glass Window Entertainment in 2023. Atlanta police believe the rhymer is still affiliated with 4PF as a street gang.
Baby’s lawyer called the accusations “complete and total nonsense.”
“To say that he couldn’t shoot a music video in his hometown, a place that he loves and has continued to uplift, is disgraceful,” Drew Findling said. “Even more, the location for a major music video shoot is a decision made by a professional team and is not a decision made by any individual.”
Viverito played a role in Young Thug’s RICO arrest in 2022, which is also a reason why he probably dislikes her. She took the stand as a state witness in the YSL trial and was cross-examined by Yak Gotti’s lawyer Doug Weinstein last November. In a video of her in court, Weinstein showed Viverito police bodycam footage of her holding Young Thug’s pink Richard Mille watch at his home on May 9, 2022. The watch has been missing since that day. Weinstein said the timepiece was worth $500,000, but other reports circulating last year valued it at $1.7 million. She described doing inventory of Thug’s property and preparing his items for the APD evidence team to retrieve. Viverito claimed the watch was left behind at the home. Thug’s watch has not be found yet.
XXL has reached out to the Atlanta Police Department for comment.
