Another isekai joins the slowly growing Titan Manga library, featuring a rather unusual premise centered around a sort-of-aspiring atheist: Working for God in a Godless World.
An imprint of Titan Comics, Titan Manga announced via press release a new manga series called Working for God in a Godless World earlier this week. Written by Aoi Akashiro and illustrated by Sonsho Hangetsuban, the synopsis revolves around a young man named Yukito Urabe, whose cult leader father sacrifices him to a god named Mitama in the hopes that Urabe may be reborn as the next leader. Just before he drowns, Yukito sends one last prayer to the heavens above that he can be reborn in a world without religion — and his prayer is heard. Before Yukito can settle down, though, it turns out Mitama has followed him into the new world and declared herself the first and only God there.
Titan Manga describes Working for God in a Godless World:
When Urabe is sacrificed by his father to the all-powerful Mitama, he prays that he can finally be without religion. He wakes up in a placid world free of faith, and begins a new life there, but when the truth is revealed, that the ruling empire purges the citizens,Urabe must find his faith and summon Mitama to protect them!
The first volume of Working for God in a Godless World will be released in print and digital formats on October 29, 2024. At 192 pages, Vol. 1 is priced at $12.99 and is available for preorder now.
Although October is still a long way away before fans can hold the physical version, they can still dive into Working for God in a Godless World via anime adaptation. Produced by Studio Palette, the 12-episode series aired from April to July 2023 and is available in both subbed and dubbed form on Crunchyroll.
