A full trailer has been released for the romantic love story Float, starring Andrea Bang (Luce, Kim’s Convenience, A Million Little Things) and Robbie Amell (The DUFF, The Flash), as well as Michelle Krusiec, Andrew Bachelor, Rukiya Bernard, and Sarah Desjardins. The film is directed by Sherren Lee in her feature directorial debut after having worked on the series Murdoch Mysteries, and Kim’s Convenience. Lee co-wrote the screenplay with Jesse LaVercombe, based on the novel by Kate Marchant.
The synopsis reads:
“Waverly (Andrea Bang) thought she had her future figured out – starting her medical residency in Toronto after a summer visit to her parents in Taipei. When her plans suddenly change, she makes an impulsive detour to a small Canadian town, where she meets local lifeguard Blake (Robbie Amell). After he saves her from nearly drowning at a beach party, Blake offers to teach Waverly how to swim, and as the lessons continue, the two unexpectedly find themselves falling in love. But will Blake’s ties to his own past and Waverly’s plans to begin a new job keep them apart once summer ends?”
A little sappy? Sure, but sweet and much more tolerable that a Hallmark movie, and just in time for a Valentine’s Day date. Check out the trailer below, and watch Float in theatres and on VOD on February 9th.
