  • Ahsoka Tano serves as a symbol of courage and inner strength for those in toxic situations.
  • Ahsoka’s enduring popularity as one of Star Wars’ best characters is due to fans finding inspiration and strength in her character.

Ahsoka Tano has become one of the most beloved characters in all of Star Wars, and the actor who voiced her in The Clone Wars shared an emotional example of how much Ahsoka means to her fans. Ahsoka is an extremely popular part of Star Wars, so much so that she made the jump from animation to live-action, and Ahsoka was recently renewed for season 2. When looking at her character, it isn’t difficult to see why she’s so popular. From Ahsoka’s most empowering quotes to Ahsoka’s full Star Wars timeline, she’s become massively important to both the franchise and the real world.

While speaking at the FAN EXPO Philadelphia Clones & Rebels panel, moderated by Screen Rant‘s Kevin Polowy, Ahsoka’s voice actor Ashley Eckstein shared a story of how far-reaching Ahsoka’s impact has been, particularly her decision to leave the Jedi Order in The Clone Wars season 5.

And yes, a lot of people thought she was very annoying in the beginning. But after season five, when she walked away from the Jedi Order, and the show was canceled. There was kind of a seismic shift. I think it happened that with Ahsoka that moment was so powerful, and really changed lives. And saved lives in many cases. I’ve heard just 1000s of stories, that I am just so honored that people would share with me.

But it was that moment I’ll never forget when someone that I didn’t know, I hadn’t even met yet just walked up and they gave me the biggest bear hug. He just sobbed and I stood there and cried with them. And he said Ahsoka saved my life. Ahsoka walking away from the Jedi Order and having the courage to walk away from something that you know, was toxic or was not good for her. He said that gave me the strength to walk away from from something that ultimately saved his life, and so it was that moment where I realized, okay, she’s transcending the screen. She’s no longer just this character on the screen, she now lives in all of us, she lives in our hearts and in our minds and in our souls. So that’s why I say Ahsoka lives in all of us.

Eckstein’s story is truly incredible, and it stands as a testament of how powerful and important Ahsoka is, even outside the Star Wars galaxy. The fact that a fictional, animated character could be so influential in the real world as to save a person’s life is amazing, and many fans of the franchise can clearly relate to Ahsoka on a deeply personal level. Eckstein said it best herself: Ahsoka lives in the hearts, minds, and souls of everyone who has seen themselves in her.

Ahsoka’s Leaving The Jedi Showed Her Inner Strength

Eckstein’s story also highlighted how important and influential Ahsoka is within Star Wars, and it showed just how monumental her decision to leave the Jedi Order truly was. As seen in Tales of the Jedi, the Order was essentially the only support structure Ahsoka ever had. She was raised by the Jedi from an extremely early age, and she had no idea what life was like without it. Still, though, Ahsoka had the courage to realize that the Order wasn’t fulfilling her and the strength to walk away from it, even though it was incredibly scary.

Ahsoka’s journey, and particularly her departure from the Jedi Order, is an exceptionally powerful example of how to have courage and inner strength. While the details of her story are unique to her and Star Wars, its central themes of being trapped in a toxic situation and trying to find a way out are all too common. One of the best parts of Ahsoka’s story is that it serves as an example of how to handle such a difficult situation, and Eckstein’s story proved that it’s clearly applicable to real life.

Ahsoka wouldn’t be nearly as iconic of a character without Eckstein’s performance and Dave Filoni’s writing, but the real reason she’s been such an enduring symbol of Star Wars is because of her fans. They gave Ahsoka her greatest purpose: to act as inspiration to anyone who needed it. Ahsoka Tano has given so much to her fans, and she was even able to save a person’s life, and those same fans clearly appreciate the enormous impact she has had on them.
