Snow White is one of the biggest flops we’ve seen in a long time. On an estimated budget around $270 million, it opened to just $43 million domestic and $87 mil worldwide. With movies that have great word of mouth — and very little competition, you sometimes see the box office leg out over the course of a few weeks. Wonka and Anyone But You are solid recent examples of movies that didn’t open strong but stayed steady. Snow White… does not have good buzz OR a clear runway.
Some industry experts are estimating the film could finish off with a box office total around $250 mil. Not even clearing its budget?! Ouch! And that doesn’t even count the other stuff a movie has to clear to be profitable — like advertising costs and what goes to theaters! In all Disney is likely to take a quarter BILLION dollar bath on this one. It’s no wonder they’re looking for a scapegoat, right?

We’re seeing a LOT of industry rags weighing the damage Rachel Zegler did with a couple tweets offending Zionists and pissing off Trumpers… But our guess? The vast majority of moviegoers don’t have time to think about every political position of actors. They just want to go see good movies! So we asked!
We did a poll asking folks why they skipped Snow White. And if our results are reflective of the audience at large, Marc Platt should get on a plane to tell himself off — for making the same old garbage!
We should preface by saying we did our poll on X… meaning we kind of figured it would skew right-wing. Those folks HATE Rachel Zegler — nd girl did get 23.5%, nearly 1/4 of the vote. But even so, she is clearly NOT the big problem on the plate!
Both “looked terrible” and “sick of remakes” blew her out of the water! 30.5% of voters said the movie looked like crap. And 35.8% said they were already going into the trailer with arms crossed because all these live-action remakes are boring and uninspired. And together?? It seems pretty clear people thought the movie was NOT going to be worth the time and money it takes to get to the theater in this economy. It wasn’t going to give them something fresh or exciting or memorable. And frankly, we can’t blame them!
