The footage, shared on X, shows scaffolding being blown off in Sutton High Street at around 4pm today (January 2).
It comes as an amber weather warning for strong wind was issued across south London by the Met Office.
The video, which has more than 90,000 views, is captioned: “Severe winds in Sutton cause scaffolding to blow onto the street.”

Some people were left shocked by the video, with one commenting: “Ban scaffolding. Not safe.”
Another person said: “Scary.”
The warning will be in place until 8pm this evening.
The Met Office has predicted that some inland areas could face winds of up to 40 to 50 miles per hour, with some areas potentially facing wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour.
Today’s windy weather has been accompanied by outbreaks of heavy rain, which may have affected visibility on the roads.
Towards the afternoon the rain moved away, leading to clearer spells with the odd shower in some areas.
The weather was predicted to become increasingly windy towards the afternoon, easing towards the evening but remaining “fairly strong.”
