Last night, Green Day lit up Sydney’s Engie Stadium with a talented, cheeky and memorable performance.

As part of their The Saviours Tour, the punk band delivered a setlist of their most beloved songs in a stellar concert, but one unexpected moment was sure to be a highlight of the evening.

One particular overexcited fan joined over 50,000 wild concertgoers in turning out to the stadium, though she will never forget her experience with frontman Billie Joel Armstrong.

Green Day, who returned to the public eye in September with their first album in 16 years, took to the stage for a masterclass in punk music while accompanied by roars from the audience.

Midway through the performance, a hilarious incident occurred where a fan, likely overcome with excitement, made her way onto the stage.

While sharing the microphone with Armstrong, the fan spontaneously grabbed it and sang the rest of the verse on her own.

But proving their were no hard feelings, Armstrong and the fan shared an embrace before he and the band carried on with the rest of the show.

The Saviour Tour previously visited Melbourne, with the band thanking the audience in a heartwarming Instagram post, writing: “Well crikey Melbourne !!! Thanks for the warm welcome Down Under with all 60,000 of you 🎸🦘.”

The band’s first trip to Australia since 2017 Australia comes just months after Armstrong took to the stage alongside Billie Eilish at FireAid.

Following the benefit concert at the Kia Forum on January 30 to help those affected by the Los Angeles fires, the Green Day frontman opened up about the experience to Billboard.

“The fact that we got to play together… she’s just, she’s a pretty awesome young lady,” Armstrong said.

“And it was an honour to be able to share the stage with her,” he added.
