Lively recalled being โ€œreally nervousโ€ filming A Simple Favor, which was released in 2018, because โ€œwe didnโ€™t know if we were making a drama or a comedy.โ€ Lively claimed that when they asked Feig about the genre, he told them, โ€œyes,โ€ which she quipped was โ€œnot really an answer to the question.โ€

Livelyโ€™s legal drama was a topic at the SXSW premiere, with Kendrick dodging questions about how Another Simple Favor has been โ€œimpactedโ€ by whatโ€™s โ€œgoing on in the world.โ€ In response, Kendrick deadpanned to Variety, โ€œWhy? What happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life has been gone. But I hear the movie is amazing.โ€
