CENTERVILLE, Ga. — A popular Centerville sweets spot will be shutting its doors.

On Monday, The Apple Basket, a spot that sells dipped apple-based confections, announced they’ll be permanently closing at the end of February, via a post on their Facebook.

“Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) to all of you that have supported our craft through the years and genuinely appreciated what we do as a husband and wife team,” the post said. “Our goal was to bring something new to this region that would satisfy as many taste palettes as possible.”

The owners stated that they’re closing the shop due to plans to retire and return back to Hawaii.

“We feel the time has come for us to slow down and enjoy the rest of our lives at a much slower pace and spending time with our Ohana (family) that we have missed more than they know,” they said in the Facebook post.

The restaurant is known for creating a wide array of unique dipped apples. From chocolate, caramel and candy apples, to unique flavors like cheesecake, key lime, banana pudding and birthday cake.
