Pink Australian tour 2024: Singer pauses first concert as woman goes into labour in Sydney

Pink has had an eventful first Summer Carnival concert in Australia, with a woman going into labour during her show at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on Friday night.

Members of the crowd signalled to get the singer’s attention as she performed the ballad Our Song before medics attended to the woman, removing her from the mosh pit in a wheelchair.

Pink paused the performance after being alerted and joked with the crowd, asking, “Is it Alecia or Alex being born right now?” referring to her birth name Alecia Moore.

“I feel like we shouldn’t be looking,” the mum-of-two joked, before adding: “Everyone give her privacy,”

“She didn’t just have the baby, right? Is the baby here? No? Okay,” she confirmed.

Pink offered her congratulations before marvelling that it was a ballad that induced labour instead of one of the more upbeat tracks in her set list.

“Wow, Our Song, that was the one that did it. Wouldn’t have called that one! I thought it would’ve been Get The Party Started or Never Not Gonna Dance Again,” the 44-year-old said.

“That’s exciting. I don’t even know what to say. But we have to sing now. Good luck! It’s gonna be great! You’re gonna do great,” she said, carrying on with the show.

Keeping the family theme going during the show, Pink brought her own daughter, 12-year-old Willow, on stage to sing the hit Cover Me in Sunshine.

It’s not the first time an audience member has gone into labour during one of Pink’s concerts.

All the times Pink has visited Australia

Angela Mercer, 32, had travelled from Albany, New York, to see the star perform in Boston last August and ended up giving birth to her son while 31-weeks pregnant.

In a nod to the singer, who is married to former motorcycle racer Carey Hart, Mercer named her son Aycen Hart.

No word yet on the Sydney baby’s arrival or name.
