We are inching ever so close to the return of 9-1-1. The veteran series is poised to return and finish its eighth season in just over a month.
Not much is known about where things will be when the series returns, but ABC has released a new trailer that sheds more light on what to expect.
And things aren’t looking good for our favorite dispatcher, Maddie Han.
In the promo after 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 8, we saw that Maddie looked to be in danger.
The latest trailer further explores the dilemma that will plague Athena and the 118, as the hunt for a serial killer will seemingly put Maddie in the killer’s crosshairs.
It appears Detective Romero will be teaming up with Athena on a case that potentially has some twists and turns.
At one point, Athena arrives at a location where a hostage situation is taking place, only to find no one is there.
At this point, Athena, ever the savvy officer, feels something is off about her investigation, which would be very on-brand for the series.
Over the years, Athena has worked on many complex cases, and this one will surely be difficult, especially when Maddie’s life could be in danger.
Poor Maddie.
I’m not sure we’ve ever seen Maddie happier than she’s been lately with Chimney, Jee-Yun, her brother, extended family, and the news that she’s expecting a child.
But on 9-1-1, characters don’t always get to stay safe and comfortable for too long, but did it really have to go down this way?
As previously mentioned, this show loves a twisty turn, so maybe things won’t turn out exactly as they seem.
Still, it’ll be hard to get that image of Maddie being gagged by someone out of my brain soon.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Maddie will ultimately be safe (they would NOT do something so cruel to Maddie!), but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a torturous ride.
Knowing this is a two-parter means it will likely be a very involved and dramatic plot, which the series has always done well.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about what this will do to Maddie and everyone else as they deal with everything that happens to her.
Outside of this big case, which will seemingly have everyone on board in some capacity, as we see shots of Buck, Hen, and Bobby comforting Chimney, one storyline should carry over to the second half.
Eddie may not be seen in this latest trailer, but his storyline should be a focal point in the back half if he does indeed make his way to the Lone Star state, as he expressed to Buck in the midseason finale.
It’s time for Eddie’s storyline to shine.
While the trailer gives us no clue what’s going on with him, I’m confident that we’ll get some resolution there and see more progress in Eddie and Christopher’s relationship.
When the show returns, there’s much to look forward to, and this new trailer has me more excited than ever about what’s to come!
