Actor Luke Wilson appeared in the first two Legally Blonde movies, and if a third one is made, he will be ready to return. Legally Blonde 3 has been an on-again off-again work in progress since it was announced several years ago. It has faced many setbacks, and the last we heard was last year when star Reese Witherspoon said she still had hopes that the film would come together.
Wilson was recently asked about the status of the film in a recent interview with ComicBook, and he said that while there isn’t much of an update, he does think the success of another female-led box office hit that was released this year will affect the sequel. He explained:
“There hasn’t been [an update] since right around when Reese was talking about that. We had a Zoom meeting of everyone, all the characters, and it was just kind of fun to see everybody. But I don’t know. I was kidding around when Barbie was such a big hit, saying that Legally Blonde was the OG. But I really haven’t heard anything since then. I’d heard pretty much what everybody else had heard, that Mindy Kaling, I think, back then was working on trying to write a version of it….Reese is a very sharp person, so I think she really wants to get the perfect script, and I would bet they do get affected by Barbie being such a zeitgeist movie across not just the country but the world, so hopefully in a good way that’ll inspire them to get the best script that they can.”
I know this movie will be a success as long as they can get the right story in line. There’s already a huge fanbase, and it’s clear that ladies are pumped to hit the theatre when the right movie comes along.
