“The Wedding Day”
Season 3, Episode 11
The day has come! It’s wedding day! The Pod Squad of Season 3 had five couples get engaged and race to the altar: Alexa Alfia & Brennon Lemieux, Colleen Reed & Matt Bolton, Nancy Rodriguez & Bartise Bowden, Raven Ross & SK Alagbada, and Zanab Jaffrery & Cole Barnett. No matter what, weddings can get anyone emotional, but most of the time, it’s because the end result is a celebratory roar. Season 3 watched a trio of “I don’ts,” though some fans believed that certain participants dodged a bullet while others did what had to be done. The first duo to split at the altar was Raven and SK. Many friends and family were shocked when SK rejected Raven at the altar due to “unresolved issues,” leaving her in complete shock. So much so, she was seen blubbering, something that was a drastic change from her personality prior to this moment.
Then there was Nancy and Bartise. Nancy said “yes” when the moment came. She was seen as someone who was willing and able to take a risk and be in love. Bartise, well, the word “coward” was a word that many fans tossed his way. He blindsided her with his inability to reciprocate. Nancy left, shattered, with Bartise following behind, but Nancy’s mom came to shut down the moment in an emotional rage. Even her brother came in to give him a piece of his mind. But his disrespectful tone and condescending approach caused a flurry of feelings. His family picked a fight, trying to battle back. Was it one of the most dramatic weddings Love Is Blind has seen? Most definitely. We should be thankful that the cameras roll even when the wedding ends in failure.
But wait, there’s more.
For this episode to be an emotional one, we needed one more rejection: Zanab and Cole. As the season’s emotional “will they-won’t they” couple, the botched wedding went down in Love Is Blind history. After Zanab said no at the altar, she provided a monologue that accused Cole of treating her poorly and constantly body-shaming her. Walking off to a round of applause may have been one of the biggest power moves the series has seen. Even with two successful weddings, it didn’t matter thanks to the emotional rollercoaster that the “no’ trio brought to the screen.

“Big, Big Love”
Season 5, Episode 10
Let’s remind you why this was a happy, emotional moment on Love Is Blind. Season 5 had one successful experiment completed: Lydia Valez Gonzalez and James “Milton” Johnson IV. And spoiler alert: they’re still together. The Houston season saw the happy couple bond over rocks and geology. Gotta start somewhere!
Despite their initial connection, the entire experiment almost imploded when it was revealed that Lydia’s ex also happened to be part of the Pod Squad. It didn’t deter them as they became the only couple to get married this season. As much as the show tried to lead to some doubt that they would say ”I do,” these two were meant to be. The ceremony was all about happy emotions as Lydia said yes without hesitation and Milton eagerly went in for a kiss before it was time to. Yes, we had happy tears for them!

“The Weddings”
Season 2, Episode 10
One might think it might be hard to leave Love Is Blind as one of the biggest villains in the show’s history. Leave it to Shake Chatterjee. He did it so well that he went on to star in the first season of House of Villains. But his villain’s origin story featured defeat in the end. Season 2 maintained the momentum the first season established, amplifying the drama.
The whole point of the Love Is Blind experiment is to focus on the emotional connection first. And yet, Shake began his time in the pods asking woman after woman about their looks, going against the point of the game. He did eventually make a connection with Deepti Vempati. But the moment he saw her, he made it his mission to tell anyone who would listen that he was not attracted to her. She had been warned about Shake, so much so that when she made it to the altar, she decided to “choose myself,” referencing her future book, rejecting Shake then and there. It was an emotionally triumphant moment because she proved that having self-respect is the most powerful thing you can have.

“Return to Reality”
Season 3, Episode 6
One of the most fascinating parts of the Love Is Blind experiment is watching the couples navigate real-world issues that they’re destined to face should they spend their lives together. In one of the first raw conversations, Nancy and Bartise engaged in an emotional debate about abortion. The timely yet discomforting discussion ran over the course of two episodes, keeping viewers engaged in the potential married couple’s ability to find common footing.
When the pair began their discussion about having children and ultimate family planning, Nancy, a speech pathologist, revealed that should she learn during her pregnancy that her child would potentially be born with a serious birth defect that could lead to long-term pain for the child, she would choose to have an abortion, having seen the difficulties that could come from it. Batise took a firm opposition stance, revealing that he did not agree with her. Only, he took it to mean that she would terminate the pregnancy of someone with any disability. In that same moment, he feigned ignorance by equating being transgender with serious birth defects.
He then shared his opinion on an “abortion pass” if it were an unplanned pregnancy. When it was time to meet the parents, the discussion returned as Bartise misrepresented her stance to his family. It caused a flurry of emotions from everyone, family and viewers alike. They ended their conversations on very different terms, proving that Love Is Blind is an emotional experiment when reality is brought into the conversation.

“She’s Gone…?”
Season 5, Episode 4
The whole point of Love Is Blind is to bring together singles in hopes of finding love. While the show has a home base for each season, the Houston season proved that the world is small after all. Sometimes, the drama inside the pods is brought into the living quarters. At the start of Season 5, it seemed as if Uche Okoroha and Aaliyah Cosby might be the couple to watch. But the entire experiment was rattled when Uche revealed that there was someone in the pods he had dated previously outside the show: Lydia Velez Gonzalez.
It was a shocking reveal, especially as Lydia and Aaliyah had grown quite close in the women’s quarters. In episode 4, Love Is Blind revealed the initial pod date between Uche and Lydia where they realized their outside connection. While they opted not to pursue one another, Lydia tried her best to control the narrative as she grew closer to Aaliyah. When Uche revealed the facts, Aaliyah was in complete disbelief, crying as she was betrayed by her close friend. When they finally had the chance to discuss the situation, things turned unfortunate as Lydia shared personal details about Uche, ruining the experiment for Aailyah, who was eager to learn about Uche on her own terms. The bomb was dropped when Lydia revealed the timeline of when she and Uche had sex, causing Aaliyah to truly become shell-shocked and uncomfortable. Aaliyah eventually revealed to Uche that she would never date a friend’s ex, but he assured her they could make it work. On the date he intended to propose, it was revealed that Aaliyah had left, deciding not to continue with the experiment.

“Couples Retreat”
Season 1, Episode 4
To put it bluntly, Love Is Blind is a primarily heternormative dating experiment. While the logistics make sense as to why it is the case, the participants primarily happen to be straight men and women. But even in Season 1, there was one cast member who broke that norm. During the pod portion of the series, Diamond Jack and Carlton Morton seemed like an interesting pair. Some viewers felt that it was doomed early on, but Carlton and Diamond made it past the pods and into the engagement phase. But everything came to a head during the couple’s trip in Mexico.
In the first episode of the series, Carlton made it clear that “My biggest dream is to finally find a wife who will love me unconditionally… but I have a big secret.” His secret: he dated men and women. With that being a deal-breaker for some dates in the past, he opted to negate that fact during the pods. But when he finally felt the time was right to share his truth, their entire engagement imploded. Diamond is shocked and accuses him of not being honest. This caused him to reveal why he kept it a secret, believing she would not have accepted him for who he was. She refused to give him a chance, which prompted him to call her a “bitch,” causing her to leave. Even though Carlton has had the opportunity to speak on the moment, it doesn’t negate the raw emotions both individuals were experiencing. It was a monumental and important moment for individuals who are more sexually fluid than the heterosexuality the series showcases.

“Pick Me”
Season 4, Episode 8
Not every happy ending on Love Is Blind has to follow the exact outline the show proposes. The dating experiment hopes that the singles will find their forever person in the pods, but there are those exceptions. Originally, Zack Goytowski left the pods engaged to Irina Solomonova, but their romance didn’t last. During the couple’s retreat in Mexico, Irina ended things. Most of the time, when a breakup occurs post pods, it means the end of the individuals’ journey on Love Is Blind. But Zack’s story was far from over. During the pod portion of the Seattle-based fourth season, Zack found an instant connection with Irina and Bliss Poureetezadi, but ultimately selected Irina sight unseen.
Bliss left heartbroken, but when Zack found himself single, there was a second shot at love. Back in reality, Zack was eager to reconcile with Bliss, hoping to earn forgiveness and attempt to date under different circumstances. They did, and well, the rest was history. During an adorable trip on a luxury boat, Zack finally popped the question! They eventually said “I do,” and have since become one of the show’s success stories. While some have accused of defeating the purpose of the experiment, proving love isn’t blind, others were overjoyed to see love flourish.

“First Night Together”
Season 1, Episode 3
“One thing I don’t believe in is roles or labels,” Giannina Gibelli said, speaking to Damien Powers. Little did some viewers know that the beginning of this monologue would lead to one of the most heartwarming proposals in the first season of Love Is Blind. It’s typical to see in society for a man to propose to a woman, but Giannina was unwilling to play by those rules. In episode 2, Damien was ready to propose to Giannina, but she had other plans. As he is about to ask her the big question, she stops him, mid-proposal, with many believing that she was going to break up with him.
But when their story returned in episode 3, it was all a cliffhanger to reveal that it was she who wanted to pop the question! “I see you as my equal, and I’m just as strong as you,” Gibelli said. “So, I want to ask you, Damien Powers, will you marry me?” He said yes, and they went on to continue the dating experiment. Breaking away from gender stereotypes allowed for one of the more happy and emotional episodes in the show’s history. Though they didn’t make it in the end, with Damien saying no, causing Giannina to have her infamous mud-on-gown moment, their shining moment together was the powerful role reversal.

“Will You Marry Me?”
Season 1, Episode 2
The greatest power couple to ever walk out of Love Is Blind is easily Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton. Their love story is what many participants aspired to be. They just happen to be the epitome of positivity, joy, and happiness.
While viewers have seen countless first meets on Love Is Blind, there was just something sweet and heartwarming about the moment Lauren and Cameron locked eyes on one another for the first time. If a tiny tear trickles down your cheek, you’re not alone. Everything was building up to this moment, and what a moment it was. It wasn’t over the top. It wasn’t a bombastic fanfare. It was genuine and real. The moment he said, “I’m never going to let you go,” we all knew he meant it. With compatibility and maturity, this duo was destined for great things.

“Eternal Bliss”
Season 4, Episode 12
Nothing beats a season of Love Is Blind than the majority of the couples getting married! By this point, there seems to be a rush to get engaged, leading to the percentage of breakups prior to or at the altar, but when a season ends with more yeses than nos, that’s a success! The finale of Season 4 was a triumph as only one couple, Micah Lussier and Paul Peden, split on their wedding day, while the three remaining pairs got the finish out the experiment wed. Episode 11 ended on a cliffhanger with viewers unsure if Kwame Appiah would say yes following Chelsea Griffin saying yes first. Episode 12 kicks off on a high when he says yes, and the pair kick off a trend of positivity. Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown had some rough moments leading up to their moment together in front of their friends and family.
Tiffany had happy tears thinking about Brett. Brett was aggravated when his pants were not so tailor-made. But his tears come when he sees the beautiful bride. When Brett cries, so do the viewers. It was at that moment that we knew they were destined to be together forever. It was quite sweet.
And then, it all came down to Zack and Bliss. As previously discussed, this is the pair that broke the experiment. Would a reunion post-pod lead to a successful nuptial? Revealing that he didn’t know how much he loved Bliss until he let her go, we knew that Zack was all in, but was Bliss ready to be the second choice? She’s all in! They share a romantic smooch, and end the episode on a high. Certainly, some come to Love Is Blind for the drama, but happiness is an emotion we should celebrate more with this show. They may not be the viral moments we count down, but they are the ones that prove that love is, in fact, blind.
