Kodak Black Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charges, Demands Trial

Kodak Black has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges after allegedly being caught with cocaine, and has requested a trial by a jury of his peers.

According to court documents obtained by XXL on Monday (December 11), Kodak (real name Bill Kapri) entered a not guilty plea to third-degree cocaine possession, tampering with physical evidence and improper stop/stand/park.

He’s currently out of jail on a $5,000 bond, and according to a post from his attorney Bradford Cohen on Sunday (December 10), they will “also will be filing a motion to suppress the stop next week.”

As previously reported, police approached the “No Flockin” rapper when they found his Bentley SUV parked in the roadway on Thursday (December 7). When officers approached the vehicle, they spotted a styrofoam cup filled with a substance that “smelled like alcohol,” according to the arrest report, which prompted probable cause to search the vehicle.

Subsequently, police claim they found “cannabis wrapping paper and suspect cannabis residue” on the car’s console, and white powder falling from the rapper’s clothes. In the arrest report, the officer wrote that he “believed Kapri was trying to discard illegal narcotics” and that Kodak Black’s mouth was “full of white powder.”

“I placed Kapri in handcuffs and observed white, rock-like substances on the ground,” the arresting officer wrote. “Kapri uttered that it was ‘Percocet.’” The 26-year-old rapper was booked into the Broward County Jail shortly afterward.

In a separate incident, Kodak Black was charged with drug trafficking last July after authorities found 31 pills alleged to be oxycodone in his possession along with more than $70,000 in cash.

He has since claimed through his lawyer that he is the victim of a police cover-up. In a motion to dismiss the case, the rapper claims that the oxycodone he was accused of possessing and trafficking was just Tylenol that had been obtained over the counter, according to TMZ.

Kodak has accused the Broward County Sheriff’s Office of conspiring against him, singling out FBI Special Agent James Mitchell.

Kodak Black’s been facing a lot of backlash for the way he has presented himself of late, which is why the “Hope You Know” hitmaker recently promised to change his ways following the release of his latest project.

Joe Budden Says He Was ‘Concerned’ About Kodak Black Long Before ‘Drink Champs’ Appearance

Last month, he dropped an 18-track album titled When I Was Dead — a follow-up to May’s Pistolz & Pearlz — with no advance warning. Around the time of the album’s release, the Florida rapper went live on social media to deliver a message to his fans, saying that he was ready to turn over a new leaf.

“I vow to do better on any area I lack, or some slack needs to be picked up on,” he said. “I must do better. I must do this shit.”

He then expressed love for his supporters, saying: “I appreciate y’all, because if it was up to them, I’d have been out of here.”

Kodak’s health, both physical and mental, has had the Hip Hop community worried since early fall. When he stopped by Drink Champs for an interview with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN in October, he appeared unstable to many viewers and listeners.
