Where does Katie Maloney stand with her Vanderpump Rules castmates, including her on-again, off-again friend, Scheana Shay, amid the series’ ongoing pause?
While appearing on a podcast on Tuesday, Katie, 37, offered an update as she also spoke of running Something About Her without Ariana Madix, 38, revealed if Tom Sandoval‘s former assistant, Ann Maddox, is working there, and confirmed her status with Kristen Doute, 41.
“I don’t see [Tom Sandoval]. I don’t see anybody [from the cast]. Well, I would see Ariana, but she’s in freaking Fiji,” Katie shared on the July 2 episode of Not Skinny But Not Fat. “I wouldn’t say that there’s bad blood with Scheana, [but] I haven’t talked to Scheana really, [and] haven’t seen her … I know her and [Lala Kent] are very close. [But] I think everyone’s just taking a breath.”
While Ariana is currently on the other side of the world filming Love Island USA, Katie is holding down the fort at their sandwich shop. That said, she wishes Ariana was around more.
“We have a manager and we have staff. I go almost every day. I’ve been trying to give myself personal [time]. It’s good for me to do that. And also, with having a podcast and other stuff going on, sometimes I just can’t make it in. It’s not like it’s down the street. It’s over the hill, so sometimes it just physically doesn’t make sense to do that,” Katie shared.
All the while, Katie said she’s continuing to stay in touch with Ariana.
“I just try to keep her in the loop of everything that’s going on. But it’s hard sometimes because I want her to be around and experiencing everything and the little things that I might forget to mention in our conversations,” Katie noted.
As Katie does her best to pick up Ariana’s slack while she’s away, she confirmed Ann as an employee.
“Ann’s working there. Ann’s doing a lot of like, more like, administrative work right now and helping with our social and online presence to help kick that up a notch because I’m not great at that,” she revealed.
Then, when Ann’s potential efforts to gain fame were mentioned, Katie acknowledged that Ann was definitely over her days of being an assistant.
“[She] doesn’t want to be an assistant. She wants to do some legit sh*t. [And] if you’re going to participate in reality TV, you may as well make the most of it,” she reasoned.
As for her relationship with Kristen, Katie said they’re “good.”
“I see her from time to time. She lives three doors down from me. We’re like straight-up neighbors,” Katie explained. “[But] she goes out of town a lot. She goes to Colorado with [her boyfriend, Luke Broderick] a lot. We’re always like, ‘Let’s have a wine night. Let’s get together.’ [But] we’re having a hard time making it happen.”
