Justin Bieber appeared to make a joke about Stevie Wonder — the legendary singer has been blind since he was an infant — and it was a quip that did not go over well with fans.
In an Instagram Story shared on Wednesday, April 10, Bieber shared a screenshot of a FaceTime call, during which he was presumably waiting for the “Signed Sealed Delivered” artist, 74, to pick up.
“This fool never sees my facetimessss,” the 31-year-old Grammy winner captioned the post, which featured him grinning at the camera in an extreme close-up.
Fans immediately began reacting online.
“And Justin Bieber know he wrong asf talking about Stevie don’t see his FaceTime knowing that man blind,” one person wrote via X.
“isn’t this offensive…,” another user posted.
“’He never sees my calls’ is CRAZY considering who we talkin about 😭,” a third fan penned.
“didn’t like the ‘joke’, sorry Stevie is a Legend,” said another X commenter.
One particularly upset fan instructed Bieber to “not ever speak to stevie wonder like that again.”
For those wondering about the connection between Bieber and Wonder, they duetted two Christmas songs in 2011. Bieber may have also been attempting to call the Motown great to work on an upcoming project.
