Jax Taylor claims Brittany Cartwright has returned home amid their separation.

While leaving a Los Angeles gym on Thursday, just hours after Brittany, 35, confirmed they were living separately for the “sake of [her] mental health” on their shared podcast, the Vanderpump Rules alum, 44, stepped out without his wedding ring and denied that they were headed for divorce.

“This is not divorce,” Jax told Page Six on February 29. “We’re just taking some time apart and just trying to reassess our situation and, you know, we have a child involved and we want to do what’s best for our kid.”

Jax and Brittany tied the knot in June 2019 and welcomed their son Cruz Michael Cauchi, now two, in April 2021.

When Jax was then asked how it’s been living away from his wife, he clarified, “We’re actually together, we’re living in our home right now. She was in a house for a while but she’s back now. We’re trying to figure it out.”

Although Jax was also questioned about whether the split would keep him from filming future scenes with Brittany, potentially for their new Pump Rules spinoff, The Valley, he seemed to shut down any such thing as he gave a nod to their decade-long relationship.

“It’s fresh and new. It’s not evil and nastiness,” he noted. “It’s just people who are hitting a 10-year mark in their marriage and it could go one way or the other.”

On Thursday’s episode of When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany, Brittany said that despite seemingly denying her and Jax’s breakup on a previous episode of the podcast, she and Jax were “taking time apart” and living separately.

“I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she explained. “Marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year in mine this past year … I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”

Brittany also requested her listeners “pray for [her and Jax].”

The Valley season one is expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime this spring.
