Japan: Game Freak trademarks Pand Land

In a surprising move, Game Freak, the renowned developer behind the Pokémon franchise, has recently trademarked “PAND LAND,” adding another mystery project to their repertoire. Unearthed by Gematsu, the Japanese developer filed logo trademarks for “PAND LAND,” featuring two distinct variations. The trail of breadcrumbs begins with the initial trademark for “PAND LAND” on November 8, 2023, in Japan. Subsequently, on December 28, 2023, the logo trademarks emerged, making their public debut recently. The logos, seen for the first time, intensify speculation about Game Freak’s latest venture.

While the connection between “PAND LAND” and Game Freak’s previously revealed project, codenamed Project Bloom, remains uncertain, the timing raises eyebrows. In May of the preceding year, Game Freak disclosed its collaboration with Private Division, known for titles such as The Outer Worlds and Kerbal Space Program, on the mysterious action-adventure game Project Bloom. As enthusiasts eagerly await more details, it’s crucial to note that trademarks don’t invariably signify imminent announcements. Game Freak, recognized for its diverse portfolio beyond Pokémon, has contributed to an array of titles like Pocket Card Jockey, Giga Wrecker Alt., Little Town Hero, and Drill Dozer.
