Jack Black meets with Penrith Panthers star during his Aussie Kung Fu Panda 4 press tour

Jack Black is Down Under to promote the latest Kung Fu Panda 4 movie, where he stars in the leading role of Po.

The film hits cinemas on the 28th of March, with the actor touring around the country to meet some Aussies and talk about his movie.

Most recently, Black made a visit to the 2023 NRL premiership winners, the Penrith Panthers, where he was interviewed by second-row forward, Scott Sorensen.

The interview began with Sorensen double-checking that Black knew the rules of NRL, saying that when footy players score a try, they have a bit of a celebration. 

Sorensen goes on to show the actor some of the Panther’s best post-try celebrations, comparing them to Kung Fu moves.

The pair joked about what Po’s signature celebratory move would be, with Black saying: “I’m definitely down with anyone who’s gonna give the old Kung Fu panda salute.”

The team made a Penrith Panthers jersey with the name Dragon Warrior and the number 4 printed on the back, gifting it to Black.

“Got a little thank you for the Penrith Panthers,” Sorensen said.

“I love it,” Black jokes. 

The actor recently revealed to The Sunday Times, that this would likely be the last time he voices Po, with the original film having been released in 2008.

“For me, I think this is the farewell,” Black said. “This is the last Kung Fu Panda. Ever.”

“I’m just thrilled that it turned out so great, because when you start these things you always have the hopes and the dreams that it’s going to be amazing and that you’re going to entertain people, but it’s never a given, you never really know until you see it,” he said.

“Making movies is hard, so to make a really good one that captures people’s imaginations and gives them a great night at the theatre feels like magic, and it definitely feels that way right now.”

Kung Fu Panda: 4 is out in cinemas on the 28th of March in Australia.
