Interview with Ali K. Mulford, Author of She’s a Keeper (Prickle Island Zoo Book 1)

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write She’s a Keeper (Prickle Island Zoo Book 1)?

This rom-com is loosely based on my life as a wildlife biologist and the embarrassingly true story of how I met my husband!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Romantasy and rom-coms! And they are my favorite to write as well!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Too many! I mostly listen to audiobooks while I’m cooking dinner and taking our dog for a walk and right now I’m listening to Yours Truly!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The judgemental donkey scene (ifykyk).

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I often write at a standing desk with copious amounts of coffee beside me!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“Not all who wander are lost.” — J.R.R. Tolkien

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Always turn the light on when you’re going to the toilet in the jungles of Guatemala.
