If She Regrets Bringing Up Olivia & Thomas Hookup

Taylor Ann Green is opening up about her decision to expose Olivia Flowers‘ hookup with Thomas Ravenel at the Southern Charm reunion.

Weeks after she shocked her castmates by sharing that Olivia, 31, had told her about her past hookup with Kathryn Dennis‘ ex-boyfriend, Taylor, 29, looked back on her reveal as she shared how editing made her look bad, accused Olivia of creating a “narrative” about what happened between her and Austen Kroll, 36, and revealed if she has any regrets.

“I felt like I had been on the defense the entire year… The reason for bringing [up Olivia and Thomas’ hookup], I do regret it honestly I never wanted to stoop to any level,” Taylor admitted on the January 25 episode of The Viall Files. “I felt like I was pushed to say it and as you know, we’re sitting there for eight hours, like there is a whole conversation to be had and I’m sitting there, I kind of sat there for like two minutes and they’re like well go ahead and say it, say it, I feel like the Real Housewives… [Andy Cohen]’s sitting there staring at me and that’s very intimidating and [Craig Conover] is sitting next to me and is like, ‘Taylor just say it.’”

According to Taylor, production edited the scene that featured her reveal about Olivia and Thomas to make it look as if she exposed their past vengefully and with no remorse.

“I didn’t even want to be there filming,” she noted. “I was like, ‘I don’t want to go to reunion, I can’t do this. I’m a very broken human. I’m going through one of the worst moments of my life while also getting hate mail throughout this entire season.’ I mean, I’ve had people saying, ‘Karma is a b*tch isn’t it?’ Like, hurtful hurtful things.”

As she began to cry, Taylor, who suffered the sudden loss of her brother, Richard Worthington Green, also known as “Worth,” during filming on season nine, said that a stone-faced look at her was inserted into the scene in which she put Olivia on blast.

“I don’t really want to get emotional at all… So for that to come out, and then for them to pan to my face, like I did not have that emotion on my face whatsoever. I did not want to say that. I was just trying to have this moment with Olivia being like, comparing apples to apples like hey, ‘You also lied to a friend. You’ve made mistakes. We all have. We’ve all lied to a friend,’” Taylor explained. “And that’s what I was trying to get at… Like, ‘Can you not have some sort of grace for me?’ Like I lied to you, and you also lied to Kathryn. That’s what I was trying to compare and instead, it was like flip reverse, I’m a bad friend all over again.”

While Taylor waited to share the news about Olivia and Thomas, she confirmed on Nick Viall‘s podcast that she’d known about the encounter for “over a year.”

“I could have used it during the season and been like Olivia, but it’s like I’m only human, and I’ve gotten to the end of my rope. I have been absolutely annihilated. I’ve been crucified this entire season, and I was really hoping for some sort of grace,” she reasoned.

Although Olivia said during the reunion taping that Taylor was the only person she told about the hookup, Taylor said she doesn’t believe her.

“At that point, I’d only known [Olivia] for a few months and I was like, ‘I don’t think that I’m the only person on earth.’ Like if I was, I mean Thomas is going around telling everybody cause I mean [Madison LeCroy] already knew about it,” Taylor stated. “She brought it up last year and you know there’s people that clearly know about it so I just, I did not want to bring it up at all, and I do regret that.”

Before sharing the news of Olivia’s hookup with Thomas, Taylor caught backlash for her encounter with Austen. And, despite insisting that they only shared a kiss, Olivia has long been convinced that more happened.

“It sucks, I can’t change her narrative and what she believes in that. There’s nothing that I could do or say,” Taylor explained. “How I handled it was very wrong. Looking back at everything, what I did was very wrong. Confiding into somebody who I was selfishly saying, ‘This is my friend, I’m going to confide in him as a friend,’ it’s like, no. That’s actually my good friend’s ex, like I don’t need to confide in him.”

Looking back at her interaction with Austen, Taylor admitted to wanting to protect him — even though the feeling may not be mutual.

“This is what I’ve learned about Austen, and I do care about him a lot but he only cares about one person and that’s himself. And I learned that the hard way… I felt like I was trying to protect him when we went into this,” she shared.

While Taylor and Austen were equally guilty for whatever went down between them, Taylor said she faced more backlash from Southern Charm viewers.

“I think it’s because I am unapologetically myself and like I said, I’m not camera trained and I don’t know how to stop talking sometimes,” she revealed.

After being asked if she received more hate from fans because she’s the woman in the situation, Taylor replied, “It could very well be that. I mean I was looking back, I was like wait a second. [Whitney Sudler-Smith wronged] Craig by hooking up with [Naomie Olindo], and Whitney and Craig are fine.”

Regardless, Taylor confirmed she does regret hooking up with Austen.

“Do I regret it? Absolutely,” she confessed. “Looking back at everything, it’s like, ‘Holy cow, this is what has come out of all of this.’ And I never wanted it to be that way. So I should have immediately gone to Olivia and said, ‘This is what happened, and I’m really sorry, and I was very broken, and I made out with Austen.’”

Southern Charm is currently on hiatus.
