The longlist for the International Booker Prize 2025 “celebrates the best works of long-form fiction or collections of short stories translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025.” This year, it’s composed of 13 works: 11 novels and two short story collections. The winner will receive a £50,000 prize, split between the author and the translator. Shortlisted works receive a £5,000 prize.

You can check out more details at the Booker Prize website, which I must say is one of the most informative and well-designed award websites I’ve seen. It includes facts about this year’s picks, short biographies of the judges, and a statement from the Chair about the process of narrowing down the nominees to this longlist. The judges have also written up descriptions of why you should read each book on this list.

Here is this year’s longlist.
