Future Partners With Intel For New S.T.E.A.M. Lab In Atlanta

Future has once again flexed his philanthropic muscle, partnering with Intel to lauch a new S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lab in Atlanta, GA.

According to press release shared with HipHopDX, his Freewishes Foundation collaborated with the company on a two-day event called the Intel Future Skills Day, which was held on Monday (February 26) and Wednesday (February 28) at the Freewishes S.T.E.A.M lab at Bessie Branham Recreation Center in the neighborhood of Kirkwood, where Future grew up.

The Intel Future Skills Day marked the beginning of more programming for students in the underserved community who are interested in S.T.E.A.M education.

“We are excited about this opportunity to partner with Intel to further one of our main objectives of S.T.E.A.M education,” said Tia Wilburn, the co-founder of the Freewishes Foundation, and the rapper’s sister. “Our overall objective is to encourage students to become innovators by emphasizing students’ expressions and creativity when solving technical or science-related problems. We want our students to be more than just consumers and assemblers of technology. We want them to be devisers, catalysts for change, and the driving force behind innovation.”

“It’s important that all students receive access to S.T.E.A.M education regardless of their background,” Future added in a statement provided in the press release.

Last May, the “Mask Off” rapper revealed that his non-profit had partnered with 2K Foundations to launch the I Am A Dreamer Lab on May 26 at a school near where the Atlanta native grew up.

“We are creating a science technology, engineering, art, and mathematics lab as an extension of Freewishes’ educational initiative,” added Tia Wilburn, who is the executive director of the foundation, as well as Future’s sister. “We wanted to add art because both Future and I support creativity.”

“Our Freewishes Foundation, with the support of the 2K Foundations, has helped make this possible in our Atlanta community,” Future added. “We’re thankful for their commitment to support our initiative.”

In addition to supporting STEAM programs for disadvantaged youth, the Freewishes Foundation “has evolved into a versatile non-profit organization that sponsors a wide-range of programs, events and services throughout Atlanta,” per the foundation’s official website.
