(KOAM) – Attention YouTubeTV Subscribers: If you watch KOAM-TV through a subscription with YouTubeTV, your service could be interrupted at 10 p.m. Thursday night as part of a nationwide outage involving CBS’ parent company, Paramount.
YouTubeTV and Paramount are negotiating for continued carriage of this station. Your local station is cut out of those discussions. If those negotiations aren’t successful, this station won’t be available on YouTubeTV.
Why is my local station not involved in this negotiation?
Under laws adopted by Congress and rules set by the Federal Communications Commission, broadcast networks can negotiate carriage of their programming with streaming-based multi-channel video programming distributors.
This is treated differently than station carriage agreements between the local station owner and the cable or satellite company. Currently, KOAM-TV and its parent company, Morgan Murphy Media, have successful carriage agreements with most major program providers.
We apologize for this potential disruption, and we wish we had a seat at the negotiation table to help return service of our station to you as soon as possible under fair agreements.
What channels are affected?
In addition to CBS programming, certain Paramount-owned cable networks could be dropped. You can find a complete list and information at keepparamount.com
