Drake Reveals Awkward Reason He Ditched Tooth Diamond

Drake has revealed that he had a pink diamond removed from his tooth because it was repeatedly being mistaken for food.

The Canadian rapper was commenting on an Instagram post about British comedian Mo Gilligan’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he told a story about a friend telling Drake he had something stuck in his teeth.

Recalling meeting the 6 God at London’s Wireless Festival, Gilligan said: “My friend, Javan, was like, ‘Drake, you’ve got something in your tooth, a little red thing in your tooth.’ And Drake’s like, ‘[rubs tongue across teeth] ‘is it gone?’

“I’m looking at [Javan] like, ‘Bruv, you’re really messing up this interaction right now! And then Drake’s like, ‘Is it a pepper?’ This is how I knew this was Drake. He goes, ‘Oh yeah, that’s my diamond. I got a diamond in my tooth.’”

Commenting underneath the clip, Drake said: “I actually got that diamond changed after this interaction cause this was the 10th time someone said it was food.”

He was first seen with a small pink diamond in one of his front teeth in 2017.

Mo Gilligan’s friend wasn’t the first person to mistake the diamond for food as one fan previously commented on Instagram: “Lmao all that money and your teeth don’t look clean”.

Drizzy quickly hit back, saying: “I have a pink diamond in my tooth… I brush with activated charcoal before any club night where I will see baddies know datttt.”

The pink diamond in his tooth isn’t the only bit of outlandish jewelry Drake has bought over the years.

In 2020, he dropped $600,000 on two 2Pac chains that depict the late rapper as Jesus Christ.

Purchased from Jason of Beverly Hills, the custom pendants feature a gold crown of thorns on one and a diamond crown of thorns on the other. They both also have a diamond chain with around 70 carats of white and yellow diamonds.

Drake later commissioned a special chain from Ben Baller in honor of Tyler, The Creator’s album IGOR topping the Billboard 200 chart.

The wild piece of jewelry features a diamond encrusted bust of Tyler’s head in his IGOR guise with a blonde wig and sunglasses.

He also bought a $300,000 chain that featured a diamond-encrusted Cupid wearing a ski mask and consists of 75 carats of diamonds and over a half kilo of gold.

The piece was again made by Jason of Beverly Hills, who also counts the likes of Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez as clients.

Jason previously detailed how he began working with Drake, telling GQ: “He direct messaged me on Instagram, asking for a ring, and then a relationship developed. Right now he’s keeping me really busy. He’s a great guy, easy to deal with.

“Obviously I’ve got to travel the globe sometimes to sit down with him and design stuff, but he is so intricate about the detail of the design and how it’s going to be and I love that.”
