When gritty anime protagonist, Lady Vengeance, is brought to the real world by a super fan, she’ll learn there’s more to life than darkness and revenge…and she’ll find love with the super fan’s twin sister – a closeted cheerleader.

Slice of Life is a queer romance that deconstructs the “slice of life” genre, unpacking the importance of “day in the life” narratives to tell a larger story about the meaning of life from the point of view of a formerly-fictional character.

Right now SOL is sitting at $12,000, well on their way to meeting their $15,000 goal. Its for good reason as this campaign is for their fifth issue. Fans have wanted more of SOL’s story and its a unique one at that, taking a coming out story, something anyone in the LGBTQ community can relate too, and turning it on its head with Yuriko (lady Vengeance) comes to life and helps Lucy through this process. This issue is meant to focus on the aftermath of her first kiss with Yuriko and coming to terms with her sexuality. Most importantly learning to lover herself no matter what.

The continuing saga of our heroic group of misfits brings them face-to-face with the horrible past that has haunted Tara for years. This new chapter promises to bring some sense of closure for Tara, in her pursuit of the evil White Man, whose vampiric ways have haunted her since childhood.

Its final call for 3 Devils and they are at the cusp of their goal. With over $9,000 amassed for their campaign and over 100 backers its clear fans want more of this series. The series has received high praise and in this issue we will finally confront Taras past and learn more of the vampire the white man. The Screwy Tuesday Art of Shawn McManus

Goal: $2,500
End Date: July 17
Goodies: Get the screwy softcover for $25, screwy hardcover for $35, and the screwy deluxe limited edition for $100.

Screwy Tuesday was started a few years ago by comic book artist Hillary Barta for the purpose of posing a new drawing online every Tuesday. This book is the result of my contribution to screwy Tuesday.

McManus is an industry veteran, with work done for Sandman, Swamp Thing and even fables for DC comic. With all these experiences McManus style has only grown and become widely renowned and now you can own fantastic pieces of his work all in one artbook. It would be a shame not to check this campaign out, any comic fan will want a piece of these books.

RISE

Creators: Trevor Fernandes Lenkiewicz (Writer/Creator), Ryan Best (Artist)
Goal: $8,000
End Date: July 17
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $5, the digital catch up for $10, Rise issue 2 cover A for $12, or at higher tiers get the variant covers for $15, $18, and $22.

RISE follows Jonathan A. Prufrock as he comes face to face with the perils of the male ego while attempting to be super. The first two issues of this premium print comic combine for a whopping 74+ pages and explores one male’s ego through the elevated life of a superhero attempting to navigate the pressures of what it really means to be a good man.

Best’s artwork is phenomenal, we had to come back to the project after taking a quick glance of the thumbnail and we were not dissapointed. One cover has Jonathan on the cover with his wife designed akin to greak gods. Its fantastic, then to have a story that focuses on jonathans mentality and what it means to be a superhero while also reigning in his ego is an interesting premise. Its not hard to see why the campaign has already been funded with a whopping $10,000 raised. We at The Beat can’t stress this enough, do not miss out on this project.
