Macon man charged after U.S. Postal Service truck stolen

MACON, Ga. — A truck stolen from the downtown Macon Post Office this morning has been found, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

They say deputies first responded to the post office on 1376 Hardeman Ave at around 5:30 a.m. after a 2022 Hino 258 used by the postal service was stolen from the parking lot.

Later, they later found the vehicle in the 5500 block of Thomaston Road.

Deputies canvased the area and found a person of interest, 38-year-old Brian Latrell Colbert, walking away from the vehicle, the release said.

When they arrested him, they found the vehicle’s keys in Colbert’s possession.

Authorities then returned the vehicle, the press release said.

Colbert was taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.

He is charged with Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, Possession of Schedule I Schedule II narcotics, Driving While License Suspended and Probation Violation. Colbert does not have a bond.

The case is still under investigation. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
