While many people recognize Ryan Reynolds for his big-screen roles, the actor/businessman also heads a film and television studio and currently seems to be working on an ensemble project. In a recent discussion, the Deadpool star opened up on his future projects and revealed that he is presently working on a project that will feature a star-studded cast.
Ryan Reynolds confirms upcoming ‘ensemble’ project
On Wednesday, April 23, Ryan Reynolds made an appearance at the 2025 Time 100 Summit. There, Reynolds shed light on his experience portraying superheroes, as well as his upcoming ventures.
In the conversation, Ryan Reynolds dropped a massive hint about the project that he is working on at the moment, stating, “I’m writing a little something right now that is an ensemble,” as per The Hollywood Reporter. However, he remained coy about what the project would entail.
With Reynolds specifying that the upcoming project will boast an ensemble cast, many have theorized that the actor could be talking about Deadpool & Wolverine 2 or a comedy movie called Boy Band.
Reynolds has already confirmed that he is joining forces with Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, and co-star Hugh Jackman, on a non-Marvel movie. Reynolds also noted that he is “on a second draft” for Boy Band, which will tell the story of former band members in their 40s or 50s after they tasted success in their formative years and are now desperate to “get their lives back.” Considering Jackman’s proposed involvement in the film, Boy Band might just be the ensemble project Ryan Reynolds referred to in his latest conversation with Time correspondent Eliana Dockterman.
The 48-year-old actor launched his own film production company, Maximum Effort, alongside George Dewey in 2018. Since then, the company has worked on a number of high-profile movies, including the Deadpool sequels, Free Guy, IF, and Shotgun Wedding, among others. So it’s likely that Reynolds will produce his undisclosed project, which could be Boy Band, in collaboration with Maximum Effort.
