Zedd Joins $30 Million Funding Round to Develop New FPS Game

Zedd is among a group of celebrity investors supporting Mountaintop Studios’ efforts to develop a new first-person shooter game.

The superstar DJ and electronic music producer certainly isn’t new to the gaming scene and notably credited his ventures in the space for helping him maintain a healthy creative balance. An avid gamer, he has held high-profile engagements with storied video game franchises that have gone beyond casual play, like contributing his musical prowess to League of Legends and developing in-game skins for Valorant.

However, Zedd’s latest venture contributing to Mountaintop Studios’ game, Spectre, marks a leap from his previous projects. He finds himself in the company of esports pros Shroud, Tarik and iiTzTimmy along with NBA superstar Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers. The round was led by Anthos Capital with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and RX3 Growth Partners, among other venture capital firms.

The illustrious group reportedly participated in a $30 million funding round and boast a wealth of competitive gaming experience the studio can potentially lean into for competitive insight. Mountaintop Studios was launched in 2020 by Oculus cofounders Nate Mitchell and Matt Hansen.

Mountaintop is currently playtesting Spectre, which is expected to be unveiled later in 2024.
