Xolo Maridueña Calls ‘Blue Beetle’ “Sacred” In First Comments Since DC Film’s Release – Deadline

Xolo Maridueña received the opportunity of a lifetime when he was cast as the titled character for the DC Studios film Blue Beetle.

The film premiered during the Hollywood strikes which left the actors unable to promote the film or share any thoughts on reactions from fans. With the strikes over, Maridueña was finally able to talk about the superhero movie that’s been a milestone for the Latino community.

Blue Beetle is sacred to me, from the family you see on screen to the ones I made off, this movie has tore me down and built me back up in ways I’ll never be able to articulate,” Maridueña shared in a post on Instagram. “To celebrate this moment behind closed doors has been one of the most formative moments of my life but it helped me realize, there is no dollar sign, no tweet, no headline, that can quantify the feeling inside a child who sees their ancestry is heroic.”

He continued, “This is for all of our inner child. Thank you for everyone who supported and showed out, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and there isn’t a week that passes by without thinking of the Blue Beetle Battalion!! Here are a few (of im sure many) photos to come of this movie!! You’re all superhero’s cabrones! Ashe.”

Maridueña accompanied the post with a series of behind-the-scenes photos of himself and the cast filming Blue Beetle.
