Kodansha has announced two new Witch Hat Atelier books—a deluxe art book and a coloring book—both set to arrive in Fall 2025.
The Art of Witch Hat Atelier will be released as a 7.7″ x 10.6″ hardcover, featuring stunning cover illustrations free of logos and text. It will also include character art from the series’ magazine serialization that was not featured in the manga volumes, along with previously exclusive pieces created to commemorate key publication milestones. Spanning the journey from its debut to its status as an award-winning, best-selling 13-volume series, this collection is a must-have for fans.
The Witch Hat Atelier Coloring Book, first published in Japan in late 2024, offers a magical, large-format (9.7″ x 9.7″) collection of Kamome Shirahama’s intricate illustrations. Fans can bring their favorite characters and creatures to life with color or even design their own “witch hat.”
Kamome Shirahama, the visionary creator behind the series, is one of the most celebrated artists in comics today. She has illustrated covers for Marvel and DC and contributed to the Star Wars: Visions project. The Art of Witch Hat Atelier highlights her versatile style, blending influences from Belgian comics and Art Nouveau to Studio Ghibli and modern manga. Originally published in French, the art book commemorates her role as a guest of honor at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in January 2025.
Set in a world where magic and dragons are commonplace, Witch Hat Atelier follows Coco, a girl who dreams of becoming a witch. However, magicians are believed to be born, not made, and Coco has no natural gift for magic. Just as she’s about to give up, she meets Qifrey, a traveling magician. When she discovers a hidden truth about magic, Coco realizes her dream may not be impossible after all.
Both books will be released in Fall 2025.
