Why Martha Stewart Was “Scared” of Matthew McConaughey 

Martha Stewart couldn’t focus on her salad while filming with Matthew McConaughey. 

After the lifestyle personality filmed a 2025 Super Bowl commercial with the Interstellar actor, she revealed her reaction to seeing his process up close.

“He got me scared actually,” Martha admitted to his How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days costar Kate Hudson on the March 11 episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast. “Oh my God, yeah, he scared me.”

“He is a method actor,” she explained. “He had to play 10 characters, and he got into each character, it takes him about fifteen minutes.”

Recalling her own time on set with the Oscar winner, Kate chimed in with, “And he’d make weird sounds.”

Martha agreed, continuing, “He’s grunting and breathing and jumping,” as the Running Point star made sound effects in the background. “And that scared me.”

The pair laughed as Kate, who reunited with Matthew on Fool’s Gold in 2008, noted, “You get used to it.”
