Helen Implies That Her Stepfather Killed Her Mother
Helen likely had something to do with her stepfather’s murder
Black Doves episode 2 “A Little Black Dove” opens with a flashback scene from 2014 of Knightley’s protagonist interviewing for a translator job at a prestigious corporate firm. Helen Webb identifies herself under a different name, Daisy Bradshaw, but her interviewer knows more about Helen/Daisy than she had anticipated, including her personal family information. The interviewer reveals that Helen’s mother had died and that Helen has a stepsister who is serving a life sentence in prison.

Black Doves Season 1 Ending Explained: Jason’s Real Identity & Who Killed Ambassador Chen
The ending of Keira Knightley’s Netflix espionage thriller series Black Doves reveals who killed Ambassador Chen and exposes Jason’s true identity.
The interviewer dives deeper into Helen’s background and suspicious family dynamics after pointing out that she rejected an acceptance offer to Cambridge University and left the country for ten years. Helen is confronted about a woman named Bonnie Weir, who is her stepsister. Bonnie has been in prison since 2004 for killing her biological father – the same man who is implied to have killed Helen’s mother. Without overtly saying it, the interviewer implies that Helen may have had something to do with the death of Bonnie’s dad.
Black Doves Hints Helen & Bonnie Killed Her Stepfather Together
Bonnie got caught while Helen left the country for 10 years
Bonnie went to jail after Helen’s stepfather, her father, was killed. Helen left the country for ten years after his death, which raises the suspicions of the interviewer. A plausible series of events was that Helen’s stepfather killed her mother and Helen teamed up with Bonnie to avenge her by killing Bonnie’s dad. Alternatively, Bonnie could have not been in on her father’s murder and instead was framed by Helen, who likely killed him herself and fled. Because there’s such limited information about Helen’s family in Black Doves, it’s unclear exactly what went down between her and Bonnie other than the fact that Bonnie is in prison for life while Helen lives a posh double life as a secret agent.
