USGS: Magnitude 2.0 earthquake detected in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Georgia — Did you feel it? If not it’s understandable.

The United States Geological Survey recorded an earthquake near Lake Sinclair and Eatonton around 10:02 last night.

It registered 2.0 on the magnitude scale and happened about 5.7 miles deep.

It’s the minimum level a human can feel.

It happened near the intersection of U.S. Highway 441 and Deerfield Lane in Putnam County just south of Twin Bridges.

Earthquakes are common around Lake Sinclair, but are very small.

They usually feel like a slight rumble that you get after a clap of thunder.

If you did feel or hear it you can report it here on the USGS site.
