Tracker Season 2 Introduces A Fan-Favorite Character In The Making

This article contains spoilers for Tracker season 2, episode 6, “Trust Fall.”CBS’ Tracker season 2, episode 6, “Trust Fall,” introduces a new character, Keaton, and he already has the potential to become a fan favorite of the show. In the sixth episode of Tracker season 2, Colter searches for campers who disappeared overnight. The stakes are even higher when Colter only finds one of the missing campers and learns that there were gunshots, suggesting the missing campers might be in danger. Although the case has an unexpected ending, Colter meets someone looking for the source of the gunshots, but for a different reason. That someone is Keaton, a retired police officer.

Tracker already has an excellent cast of characters, but even Keaton’s introduction makes him stand out. Although Keaton is looking forward to retirement, he feels unable to truly relax because of a case that has remained unsolved from earlier in his career. Keaton is sure that the shooter Colter is looking for is Keaton’s guy because the campers went missing during a blue moon—the same occasion Keaton’s suspect has killed people in those mountains before. Keaton is a surprising but welcome addition to Tracker, especially given the exit of Robin Weigert’s Teddi Bruin after Tracker season 1.

Colter Shaw meets Keaton, a retired police officer, while looking for missing campers near a waterfall in the forest. They are surprised to find each other, but Colter and Keaton quickly put aside their initial shock and decide to work together to solve this case. Colter and Keaton realize they work well together. Their skills complement each other because of Keaton’s knowledge of their suspect and Colter’s fresh perspective on the case. They have each other’s backs, which is evident when the suspect shoots Keaton, and Colter quickly brings him to safety.

After the police apprehend the suspect, Keaton decides to help Colter with the missing campers because they are still nowhere to be found. Keaton offers to help Colter track down the three missing campers by checking out an address where Colter and Keaton eventually find them. Tracker season 2, episode 6, “Trust Fall,” ends with Colter asking if Keaton would consider looking at Gina Picket’s case. Colter only meets Keaton that day, but he already feels comfortable enough to ask Keaton for help with Colter’s oldest and most vulnerable cold case.

Keaton Is A Fun & Reliable Ally For Colter In Tracker Season 2

Keaton Is Unlike Any Of Colter’s Allies Outside His Team

Colter Shaw works alone for a reason—even when he meets potential allies, he does not trust people easily and often finds them suspicious until they prove otherwise. Colter’s brief alliances also usually go their separate ways when their work together is done. However, Keaton is notably different. Colter trusts Keaton almost immediately because of his knowledge of the forest, shared target, and similar way of thinking. Colter also finds it easy to open up to his new friend because Keaton understands Colter; they have similar experiences in the missing persons field.

Keaton helping Colter with Gina Picket’s disappearance seems like the ultimate test—if Keaton breaks new ground in the case, then maybe Colter will formally ask Keaton to be part of his team.

“Trust Fall” illustrates how Colter efficiently helped Keaton, and Keaton returned the favor. They can solve cases on their own, but it turns out they are much more productive when they work as a team, which is why the episode is titled “Trust Fall” to begin with. Keaton helping Colter with Gina Picket’s disappearance seems like the ultimate test—if Keaton breaks new ground in the case, then maybe Colter will formally ask Keaton to be part of his team. It is unknown if Keaton will play a bigger role in Tracker, but hopefully, he will stick around.

Can Keaton Still Return In Tracker?

Tracker Season 2, Episode 6 Set Up The Possibility Of Keaton’s Return

Although Colter and Keaton are going their separate ways, for now, the narrative heavily implies that Keaton will return. At the end of Tracker season 2, episode 6, “Trust Fall,” Colter asks Keaton if he will look over a case that has haunted Colter for several years. He hopes a new perspective with fresh eyes will bring something to Colter’s cold case. Furthermore, Colter had no issue opening up to Keaton about Gina Picket’s case, telling Keaton about how Gina’s unsolved disappearance continues to haunt Colter.

Furthermore, Tracker season 2 cast Floriana Lima as Camille Picket, Gina’s sister and Colter’s former flame. However, Camille has not been seen in Tracker since season 2, episode 1, “Out of the Past.” Although it is unknown if Floriana will return as Camille Picket, it is difficult to believe she will not be seen again, especially given that Tracker season 2 has finally remembered Gina Picket’s case. Since Keaton will be helping Colter with Gina Picket’s unsolved disappearance, chances are it is not the last time viewers will see the retired police officer.
