Erika Jayne is one of the stars of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, her life has not been easy over the last few years as things have changed drastically.
As fans know, she is currently married to once-famed lawyer Tom Girardi. The two tied the knot in 2000. However, Tom was indicted earlier this year for wire fraud. This came after Erika filed for divorce in 2020. The following year, it was revealed that Tom had been diagnosed with dementia and late-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Now, his health continues to decline, but it has ruled that Tom must stand trial.
Regarding the crimes, Tom has been accused of embezzling $15 million from clients between 2010 and 2020. He was then forced to file bankruptcy, and Erika was sued for the $25 million that the firm used to pay her bills. However, the RHOBH star denied all claims of wrongdoing and said that she had no idea any of the embezzling was going on. Tom now lives in a senior living facility.
Now, Radar Online is reporting Tom has been moved to care level two at his Orange County living facility. According to the staff, he “requires supervision.” Additionally, he is “able to maintain a façade of being oriented,[but] memory deficits are seen over time.”
According to the lawyers, Tom “requires stand-by assistance for all showering/bathing needs.” Tom also needs to be reminded to change clothes, but he can walk around the facility independently. He also hasn’t fallen in quite a while. However, he mostly keeps to himself and does not participate in group activities.
Now, the government has found Tom to be of sound mind enough to handle a trial. Of course, there is no word yet when a trial will happen. There is also no word on when Tom and Erika’s divorce will be finalized. However, she recently revealed that she is open to new love. Despite this, Erika has been accused of “bleeding” Tom’s estate dry and benefiting from the fraud case. Only time will tell how this plays out.
