The Witcher 3’s Gwent gets a physical edition in 2025

Gwent, the popular digital trading card game that came to life as an in-game activity in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has proven popular with fans over the years. While CD Projekt Red no longer supports the standalone spinoff, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game (players have done that themselves since 2023), Hachette Boardgames will attempt to bring it to life as a physical card game. The tabletop publisher announced Friday that a physical version of Gwent will be released in 2025, where it will compete in a marketplace already crowded with games like Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana, and Star Wars: Unlimited.

Hachette Boardgames is teaming up with publisher No Loading Games to adapt “high-profile licenses,” according to a news release, and the Gwent tabletop game is part of that. Hachette Boardgames said Gwent will ship with 400 cards and a playmat that helps replicate “the full experience of Gwent’s iteration within The Witcher 3.” Players will be able to play several different variants of the game, both casual and with tournament rules.

Gwent is the biggest ‘game within a game’ in media history,” Hachette Boardgames marketing manager Rob Trounce said in a news release. “After a 10 year wait, we are proud to be working alongside No Loading Games to bring this beloved game to tabletops in a stunning package — whether it’s a souvenir for fans of Geralt and his adventures, or a game for competitive card game enthusiasts, Gwent will be one of the hottest games of 2025.”

Gwent will be available in both the United Kingdom and the United States, available in the third quarter of 2025. Hachette Boardgames said in the news release Gwent will cost £44 at U.K. retailers and $39.99 in the U.S.
