THE LOST BOYS Is Getting a Stage Musical and Patrick Wilson Is Producing It — GeekTyrant

In the realm of movie entertainment, few decades are as cherished and iconic as the 1980s. A time of bold fashion, unforgettable music, great hair, and classic films that have left an indelible mark on pop culture. Among these cinematic gems is The Lost Boys, a 1987 cult classic directed by Joel Schumacher. While the franchise has seen its share of ups and downs over the years, it seems the story of these teenage vampire hunters is primed for a revival… this time on the stage. It’s been announced that the beloved film is set to be adapted into a stage musical production.

The Lost Boys musical is in the early stages of production, with a talented team coming together to bring this iconic tale to life in a fresh and electrifying way. Among the creative minds spearheading this endeavor are Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), James Carpinello (Midway), and Marcus Chait (Million Dollar Baby). In addition, there’s Michael Arden (Parade), book writers David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Chris Hoch (Shrek The Musical, Matilda and A Christmas Carol); and music by The Rescues (Kyler England, AG, Gabriel Mann), with Ethan Popp (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) serving as Music Supervisor.

The original film tells the story of two brothers who move to a seemingly ordinary town, only to discover that it’s a hotbed of vampire activity. The film introduced audiences to the vampire-slaying Frog Brothers, portrayed by Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, and Jamison Newlander, characters that became beloved fixtures in the franchise. The film has a unique blend of horror, humor, and coming-of-age elements that fans love.

In the years following the original film’s release, various attempts were made to expand the Lost Boys universe, including two direct-to-video sequels that saw the return of the iconic Frog Brothers. Other projects, such as a fourth movie and a Frog Brothers television series, were also explored but never came to fruition. The CW even took a stab at bringing the world of The Lost Boys to television but encountered challenges that prevented it from getting off the ground.
