THE KANG DYNASTY No Longer Being Directed By Destin Daniel Cretton — GeekTyrant

Director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) is no longer set to helm Marvel’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Deadline reports that he is the one who stepped away from the project so that he can “focus on his other Marvel projects.” Cretton is also said to be in talks with Marvel Studios about directing future movies.

When it comes to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, this doesn’t really come as a surprise. Screenwriter Jeff Loveness previously left the project, and it’s being reported that Marvel Studios is moving away from the whole Kang the Conqueror storyline. If this is actually the case, this film is going to be reworked into something else or just be scrapped completely, which makes sense that the initial creative team is not involved anymore.

But who knows, maybe the film is still going to be made. The Report doesn’t make any mention of it being scrapped. What do you think is going to end up happening with The Kang Dynasty?

Cretton is currently working on the Marvel Studios series Wonder Man, which he co-created with Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner. The series will resume shooting after Thanksgiving and it will fall under the new Marvel Spotlight series banner, which are shows that are standalone series and not part of the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The director is also working on the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
