Mark Waid and Dan Mora‘s Batman/Superman: World’s Finest is set to reach its 25th issue in March of next year. To celebrate, the oversized issue, which will tell the story of the first meeting between Lex Luthor and The Joker, will sport a number of variant covers, including a new celebrity team-up variant by Mora in which the heroes of the Justice League meet legendary sci-fi icon William Shatner.

In the hands of iconic writer Mark Waid and fan-favorite artist Dan Mora, the Man of Steel and The Dark Knight have fought interdimensional demons, allied with other DC Super Heroes, and traveled across the DC multiverse. In a special lead-in story for this landmark issue, Waid and Mora will at last highlight the first meeting between The Joker and Lex Luthor. With the two preeminent DC Super-Villains joining forces, Batman and Superman are in for BIG trouble! Also, spinning out of the pages of the Batman/Superman: World’s Finest Annual #1 (on sale January 30, 2024), Doom-Mite strikes, pointing the way to the next World’s Finest epic story!
The William Shatner variant cover by Mora is joined by a legion of covers by other artists, including Jamal Campbell, Dustin Nguyen, Dave Johnson, Joëlle Jones, Álvaro Martínez Bueno, Christian Ward, and Stevan Subic.
Shatner is the latest celebrity to appear alongside Batman and Superman on the cover to an issue of World’s Finest, though it’s the first time the full Justice League has also appeared as part of the team-up. Other pop culture legends who have met the iconic superheroes of the DC Universe include Jerry Seinfeld, Paul McCartney, and a superhero-ified Nicolas Cage. Maybe one day they’ll even meet a celebrity who’s a woman!
