Ahead of the Season 29 premiere of The Bachelor, Jesse Palmer, the host of this infamous dating show, hinted that the leading man, Grant Ellis, had some serious decision-making regarding who he would choose on the final day. In the trailer, Grant Ellis is seen panicking over the fact that he has to choose just one woman to spend the rest of his life with potentially, and Jesse Palmer has promised that Grant is not just exaggerating for the cameras.
Towards the end of the trailer, there is a sneak peek of Jesse Palmer asking Grant Ellis, again, who he is going to give the final rose to. Palmer had even mentioned how the two final women were on standby, and he had to know who to send first. The scenes leading up to whoever Grant chose are authentic and real, according to Palmer, but it took some pushing to get Grant to make his decision.
Grant Spent Too Much Time Trying to Choose
During an interview with US Weekly, Jesse Palmer explained that even he was surprised at how indecisive Grant was because this was something that he had never witnessed before as host of The Bachelor. “That was something that I haven’t encountered yet as the host in the last four years on any of the franchises. Normally, I think our leads have a little bit more clarity – a lot more clarity – heading into the final day. And I really think that’s how conflicted Grant really was.” Palmer then went on to explain that although Grant was conflicted and time was ticking, he can appreciate the reasoning behind Grant taking his time choosing between the two women, because he wanted to fully commit to choosing the right one.
Palmer explained to US Weekly that production had to keep the cameras rolling, despite not knowing what the final outcome would be. “It got to a point during our conversation where it was so up in the air. I mean, we had to get it going. He’s got to make a decision, and we have to have an ending.” Palmer then apologized for approaching the situation the way he did and breaking the fourth wall, but he had a job to do, and so did Grant.
