Teri Hatcher kicked off dating app Hinge over accusations of ‘fake’ profile or being impersonator

Teri Hatcher has revealed she recently got kicked off the popular dating app, Hinge.

The Desperate Housewives star, 59, made rare comments about her dating life when talking to Aussie chef Curtis Stone on his podcast, Getting Grilled.

Hatcher said she got booted off after people thought she was an impersonator and had a fake profile.

But despite the mistake, Hatcher said she ”doesn’t date” anymore and is “happy” single, saying: ”I don’t need a man!”

“I don’t date. I don’t meet people, I don’t meet anyone… if you come up with someone let me know,” she told Stone.

“I’ve tried them all, my latest one, I tried Hinge, I thought, you know, I’m gonna say to the universe that I am open and vulnerable and I’m putting myself out there. That’s what I thought my gesture of joining the Hinge app would be, and then they kicked me off,” she explained.

“They thought I was pretending to be Teri Hatcher. I complained. I was like, ‘Can I have my money back?… Anyway, they apologised.”

Hatcher added: ”Now I’m over it, I’m done with the dating apps, if there’s anyway I’ll go somewhere and meet someone, that’s what it’s going to have to be… but I’m happy, I have a really full life, a busy life, I have beautiful friends, I don’t need a man, I have a cat.”

In December, Hatcher turned 59 and reflected on getting older.

In a post, she wrote: “With age comes the deepest sense of acceptance and freedom, appreciation and gratitude and the energy and ambition to do all that you can in and for this world and the people in it.”

Hatcher said “I tried to have a second child by myself and I went through that, got a sperm donor. I actually had a miscarriage, unfortunately.”

While it didn’t work out for Hatcher personally, she explained that the sperm donation route can be done and is a lot of “fun.”

She continued, “Because you pick out literally, ‘Do they wear glasses? Did they have acne? How tall?’ It’s very interesting when you think about it that way.”

Hatcher shares a 26-year-old daughter, Emerson, with ex-husband Jon Tenney. The pair divorced in 2003 and Hatcher has not remarried since.

In an interview with People in 2019, Hatcher defended her choice to remain single, saying, “There is a difference between being lonely and being alone. I have been single for a very long time but there is nothing lonely about my life. I want to remove the stigma of that.”

She added, “Many women who get divorced will not get remarried. That kind of sounds depressing but it doesn’t have to be. Many women are not just surviving alone, they’re thriving.”
